In this guide, we will explain the most important basics of photography, camera construction, and the meaning of concepts such as ISO, aperture, shutter speed, and lens focal length.


1. How does a camera work?

A camera works similarly to the human eye. Its task is to collect light and record an image.

The basic principle of operation is as follows:

Light → lens → shutter → sensor → image save

Each element influences the final photographic effect.

In older cameras, light was recorded on photographic film. Modern digital cameras use a sensor, which converts light into a digital image.


2. Camera Construction – Key Elements

Camera Sensor

The sensor is one of the most important elements of the camera. It records light and creates the image.

It can be compared to a digital version of photographic film.

The most common types of sensors:

Higher ISO allows taking photos in darker conditions but causes:

It is best to use the lowest possible ISO.


6. Shutter Speed – how long the camera takes a photo

Shutter speed determines how long light falls on the sensor.
